Our farm is on the mend! We are now in our new home and things are slowly getting back to a routine. Our weims have been “camping” for almost a year now. They are so happy to be at home again !!

Lots of changes have occured since the tornado! ( I will post pictures here later today)

When the tornado came, Tinkerbelle, Ruth, Grace and all 7 puppies were inside the house. We had everyone else in the puppy barn. You know how you hear something and think, yeah right? Well, that’s what we thought. Then Danny yelled for all of us to get in the truck to go to my Dad’s home to get in the basement. We didn’t have time to get any of our weims!

It was a HUGE tornado. We were all praying for our weims as our ears popped and we heard the loudest, scariest roar we had ever head. It lasted about 20 seconds….then it was gone.

Still thinking we were safe,  we walked outside to see how everything was. We were so worried about our babies!! There was one tree down in my Dad’s yard….across the bed of our truck. Making light of everything since our children were so frightened, my husband “unloaded” the truck of its firewood .

We saw all of the power lines down and were being very careful. I thought we would never get out to see how our weims were!

It is deadly still and quiet after a tornado. Not a sound anywhere. All animals are quiet, wild and domestic. No wind stirs, which is a huge contrast to minutes before.

I was so close to tears by the time we left my Dad’s yard. Emotions were screaming inside me but I held on for my children’s sake.

It was 9:50pm. Dark. Only two small flashlights to make our way around. When we got to the small bridge that separates our property from my Dad’s, there were several power lines down that we had to cross.

Emergency vehicles were flooding the neighborhood. The only lights around were their red flashing lights. We could hear people yelling that someone was trapped in a basement. Scared!

I hear all this, and in my mind I am listening for barking. I hear none. I express my concern to Danny quietly so that the kids don’t hear. He is worried also.

We make our way through the power lines and walk into more destruction. Trees are down everywhere. We can’t see far in front of us because of the weak lights.

Deciding to walk higher up the hill, we made our way toward our home. As we come around the barn, we all stop and just stair. We couldn’t figure out what we were looking at. Then someone said, “Momma, that’s your bed!” And it was. We were looking at the remains of our home. Not a tree stood on the property. And, I still couldn’t see or hear not one weim.

I looked at Danny and said, “We don’t have a home!” I can’t describe the feeling that puts in a person. I had already been praying, for so many things! Now, I prayed for God to provide for us and protect us. Danny and I both knew our insurance wasn’t going to cover everything we had lost. He said this to me out loud. I replied with….”Where the insurance stops, God will finish”.

Our propane gas tank was leaking so badly you could smell and hear it. 250 gallons of gas filling the area. Danny wouldn’t let me get any closer. I called for the weims hoping that they would come running. Not one came.

We had to return to my Dad’s home without finding anyone. It was the hardest thing, to walk off!

Immediately God provided for us! The community filled with neighbors and our church family. In the light of vehicles, roads were being cleared. Chainsaws were heard everywhere. They finally made their way to where we were. One of our church members heard that our dogs were still at our house and that we couldn’t get to them.

We were standing there talking to everyone when all of a sudden I was handed one of my puppies! Then another, and another! They had found everyone except two. A little girl and a little boy. I cried! It finally all came out and I cried!

Danny and I settled our children with some of our visitors and we made our way back out to the house. It was so aweful! Climbing through walls we made our way inside and found all of our weims except Flicka. I called and called. She never came. Everyone was safe except Rugen and Flicka. We knew Rugen had not made it and were so praying Flicka was just not able to come to us.

Morning came slowly. We slept…lay…on our blanket with our children and all our weims and Tinkerbelle through the night. At first light Danny and I were out looking for Flicka. We found her in the building that she was in. The building was completely destroyed. She was in a pile of destruction with a badly broken leg.

Long story short…Atticus, Flicka, and Grace are all that remain. Bailey, Lexie and Ruth were so unhappy with the living conditions, “camping” that we adopted them out to families prepared to give them stable, loving homes.

God did provide where insurance left off . Our church family came and in three days completely dried in our new home. It has been amazing what God has done! Never think anything is too big for Him .

We are now ready to continue with our favorite thing…..raising awesome weimeraners!!!! We have missed it so much. There was one litter last year. We spoiled them rotten! This year should be more productive. We are very excited!

Flicka and Grace both should have puppies soon. We are waiting anxiously for them to become moms.

Atticus will be sire to Grace’s pups and Beau (an exceptional weim we are using for Flicka) will be sire to Flicka’s pups. We plan on keeping a puppy from Flicka’s litter to continue our line throught Rugen and Flicka. For those that do not know, Rugen was Flicka’s sire. We want to continue their awesome line in our breeding program.

Thank you all for all you did during our time of much need! So many of our “puppy families” were right there the next day with water and supplies. We are very blessed through our puppies. Meeting people that become life long friends and are there when we needed them so much!

We lost our home and all of our outbuilding in the tornado on April 27th. Our family is safe and Flicka’s puppies are safe. Atticus, Lexie, and Bailey are safe. We did lose our sweet Rugen.

He was our original, first, Grey Ghost Weim and the reason we began raising puppies. Rugen was very intelligent and the sweetest weim you could ever meet. Just the week before Danny, Eli and myself went fishing in the pond. Rugen went swimming! I reminded him that he was an old grandpa. A beautiful day, a beautiful memory . We are so missing our friend.

The puppies from Flicka survived the tornado inside our home. God placed His hand of protection on them as the house and a very large pine tree fell across their crate in our office room. We are so thankful!! Their families came and picked them up early due to no place to keep them. They are all doing wonderful.

One family named their little fellow Rugen. That felt really good. Rugen was his grandad so it was very fitting.

Another puppy was named Eli. Guess I don’t have to mention how excited Eli was about that .

We so love our families that adopt our puppies. We have made lifelong friendships. Several families called, as far away as NJ, to check on us and our Weims after the storm. Several brought food and dog supplies, etc. for us.  God is so good! We are so thankful for all the love and help. Daily it continues and we keep thanking our Father for it and the love we are receiving from our friends and family.

Lexie is due around the middle of June. We hope to have our barn back up and have them in their “condo” unit instead of their “camping” unit. If not, she will be living with us in the basement of my dad’s home.

All is well considering. I did lose the waiting list we had for Lexie’s puppies. If you are checking back here, please contact me. The best way now is by cell phone or texting. Our internet service in down and we had to change providers. I’m not sure for how long our email address will still work.

I thought I’d send you an update on Arnie that you can put under your Puppy Stories tab.

Arnie is about 7 months old now, a solid 64 pounds as of last week, and a member of the family in every sense of the word. He follows us around and the house, always watching and noticing everything. He can be protective, but has never been agressive. It’s more like an attitude that someone he doesn’t know can’t be my friend until they’re his friend first. Once he gets a few sniffs in with strangers, he’s satisfied and goes back to his cushion. He’s the smartest puppy I’ve ever met, and he is the world’s biggest sucker for a piece of ice. He’s learning to push the button to get his own ice from the ice maker, which is something he’s picked up on his own. He gets along great with my wife’s chihuahua, and they are always racing up and down the hallway or sleeping in the sunny spots of the living room floor. His outdoor life is pretty nice as well. When I go hunting, he hunts with me, and he’s never had an issue being gun-shy. He also enjoys jumping off the dock and taking a swim when we go fishing. Every night, he goes with me on a two or three mile bike ride around our neighborhood, and that’s done wonders for his day-time energy levels too. I’m hoping this spring and summer, things will be calm enough around our house to take him to our trainer to teach him to point-flush-retrieve in time for dove season in September.

I did take him goose hunting during on morning during the blizzard we had in early January. He’s fetched tennis balls and toys for a couple of months now, but I’ve never once tried to teach him to retrieve a downed bird. Well, I had killed a few one morning, and I’d also had the pleasure of going and getting them myself, ALL morning. On my last bird that day, the bird went down close by and Arnie took off on his own and brought the goose back to his place in the blind! This was completely un-commanded or practiced. I did have to give him a piece of beef jerky as a trade for the goose, but the retrieve was flawless (minus him dragging it back by the beak).

I also wanted to let anyone who drops by this website know what a great job you do. You’ve always been available to answer the phone when I’ve called to ask questions about Arnie, and you’ve been willing to ask your vet for tips that might help us too. You guys have been such a great help to us. I don’t know that we will be getting another one soon, now that we have a baby on the way, but I’ve suggested several people to check you guys out when they tell me they want to take my dog home.

We found Lexie while searching for a new puppy to add to our farm.  When I saw her advertised at a great mom, I worried about her being put on a puppy farm.  I have high standards for raising weims so it broke my heart to pass her up.  Continuing my search, my heart kept leading me back to her picture.  She was very pretty in her picture (one before her scar).  I wasn’t sure where she was from so I kept searching.

Long story short, my heart won out! I called her owner at the time and got information on her.  Turned out she is from a strong hunting bloodline and champion bloodline, has a perfect build, and was starving for attention.  When I first saw her I instantly noticed her scar and wondered about it.  Our vet checked her as soon as we got home.  She assured us it was only a scar and that she was healthy and strong.

Lexie loves living on our farm!!!

I am so glad we got Lexie.  She is very smart, shows strong hunting blood and is an absolutely wonderful mom.  She takes great care of her puppies and raises big, beautiful, smart puppies.  She is so happy now.  Such a change in when we first brought her home.  You know, I don’t even notice her scar any more.

We love our weimaraners very much and enjoy having them on our farm and in our lives.  They are awesome dogs!  Our high standards for breeding have not changed and Lexie’s puppies prove her qualifications.

Hey Erin!!!!

It is wonderful to hear from you.  I am so glad you are enjoying your weim!  Congratulations on getting married !!!

We are still raising puppies, as you can see, and enjoying it so much still.  Our site has been so much fun.  I have so much more to add to it.  I hope that next week I slow down and can get to work on it.  I have some great stuff from some of our families to put up.  I would love to add you to our site.

Our Rugen is getting older now and is slowing down.  It breaks my heart to even think of him not being here.  He has become a grandpa that loves all the puppies.  He is great with them.  They will be playing all around him and he will give us a look of “you know I’m too old for this!”  It just cracks me up!  He is so patient with them though.

I am so glad you found us.  It is great to hear from you and I can’t wait to see pictures of Bensley.

I’ll try to find you in our old records and find out who his mom is.

Thank you very much for the congrats. I just am so excited I found you guys online!! I’ve attached some photos of  Bensley for you. He is such a great looking dog!!!
